ALBERT LEA (KTTC) -- A Freeborn County jury has found former Albert Lea City Manager James Norman guilty on seven of eight counts in a case involving alleged mis-use of a city-issued credit card.

The prosecutor, Chief Deputy Waseca County Attorney Brenda Miller, told reporters later that she thought "justice had been served," and that the jury had done a thorough job and made "a fair and just ruling."

Norman had received a city-issued credit card, and had signed a user agreement, after beginning his job overseeing Albert Lea's city government.  But former City Finance Director Rhonda Moen notified authorities last summer when she believed there had been purchases made by Norman that were not allowed by the agreement.

Norman told reporters tonight that he maintains he was given the right to make purchases related to his relocation expenses to take the Albert Lea job, and he says he intends to appeal the jury verdict.
