Albert Lea students practice fire safety

Updated:

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Where there's smoke, there's flames. Monday morning Albert Lea first graders learned about fire safety.

This marks the 20th year Albert Lea Fighters have educated students on the dangers of fire.

Topics covered included the use of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, as well as having an escape plan.

Students said they learned a lot about playing it safe around fire.

"When there is a fire on your shirt, you roll."

"If your clothes caught on fire before the firefighters come, then you would stop, drop and roll," said first graders at Lakeview Elementary.

The fire department gives students a worksheet to complete with their guardians about fire education.

If they complete it they get a fire safety T-shirt.
