Pretrial Motion For Alleged Killer Of Somali Resident Heard

Rochester, Minn. (KTTC) In 2008 a man was found beaten to death outside an alley in downtown Rochester.

Thursday, new details in the case against one of the two men accused in the killing.

A pre-trial motion for Adam Brandrup was heard by an Olmsted County judge.

Brandrup's Attorney is seeking the basic human resources personnel file on Olmsted County coroner Dr. Eric Pfeifer, from Mayo Clinic.

Pfeifer resigned from Mayo the day after a jury found the first man, Joshua Lee, guilty in the death of Muhadin Mumin.

The coroner gave key testimony in the Lee trial and is expected to testify again in Brandrup's trial.

Brandrup's attorney claims Pfeifer resigned because he changed the death certificate done by another medical examiner in a different case against Mayo Clinic.

The attorney say he needs the file to challenge Pfeifer's credibility as a witness.

The Prosecution argues the file and Pfeifer's reason for resigning are irrelevant to the case.

Mayo Clinic's attorney's said the changes made to the death certificate did not violate any law or policy.

The judge has yet to issue a ruling on this matter.
