Voters in Freeborn County heading to the polls

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Freeborn County residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote in a special primary election to fill a county commissioner seat.

The fifth district seat became available after former commissioner, Linda Tuttle, resigned after being arrested for allegedly diverting money from her abstract company into her own accounts.

Seven people applied for the seat, but the race was narrowed down to Mike Lee and Tony Pestorious.

Albert Lea residents in Ward 1 also headed to the polls Tuesday, in a special primary election to fill Mayor Vern Rasmussen's former city council seat.

Names on the ballot included: John H. Schulte V, Jeffrey McLaughlin, Stuart J. Olson, George Gillespie, Harold Kamrath, and Dave Klatt.

The general election will take place May 3rd.
