Winter weather causes accidents Monday

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesotans are digging out -- again -- after another winter storm dumped more than a foot-and-a-half of snow on parts of the state.

Madison, in western Minnesota, reports 19 inches of snow. Other snowfall reports include 17 inches in Eden Prairie, 16 inches in Bloomington and 12-and-a-half inches at the Twin Cities airport.

Lt. Eric Roeske says 304 vehicle accidents were reported to the Minnesota State Patrol between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday. Injuries were reported in 44 of those crashes, but no serious injuries were reported.

Regions Hospital in St. Paul says its emergency center has treated about 75 patients since Sunday evening for snow-related accidents.

Minneapolis has declared a snow emergency -- its eighth snow emergency of the season. Officials says that's the most Minneapolis has ever declared in a single winter.
