ROCHESTER (KTTC) -- The Twins Caravan made its last stop in Rochester Monday night, to the delight of the faithful fans who had snapped up tickets for the event.
Twins third baseman Danny Valencia and outfielder Denard Span appeared at the Ramada Hotel in southwest Rochester at 5:30 p.m., after visiting with children at the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester during the afternoon. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was not able to make the trip.
Twins radio affiliate KROC-AM was the host for the event and sent out word Monday morning that all the tickets had been sold.
The Twins Caravan had 60 communities on the schedule this year. At last week's stop in Owatonna, infielder Trevor Ploufee told KTTC's Katie Lange it's special for the kids.
"Growing up I would have loved if the Dodgers would have done something like that in the L.A. area. I never got to see them up close and personal like some of these kids are getting to see us."
