New Traffic Law

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A new year means a new traffic law for Minnesota, it's called the 'Impeding and Grid Lock' Law.

It will make it illegal for drivers to block an intersection that is controlled by a stop light. Rochester Patrol Officer, James Marsolek said the law is about safety.

"You have to wait, even if it's on a green light you can't enter an intersection until you can fully clear that intersection, otherwise you'd be issued a citation at that time," said Marsolek.

The law doesn't make it illegal to be in the intersection if you are waiting to make a left hand turn. The petty misdemeanor could cost you between $100 - $150 dollars.
