Some suggestions for New Year's Eve fun

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- If you're not sure what your New Year's Eve plans might entail, we've got you covered.

No matter what your age, there is something going on in Rochester, to help you say goodbye to 2010 and hello to 2011.

Another year is just about in the books. Now it's time to let your hair down and cut loose. Plenty of celebrations are going on around the city, including a magician for families at Paradise Pete's.

"He also does balloon animals, he does some amazing tricks," said Paradise Pete's Mike Barthel.

If you're itching to put on your dancing shoes, Blue Moon Ballroom has you covered.

"We have our annual event. We'll start it off with swing lessons from 8 to 9 PM, followed by a wide range of music; everything from swing to ballroom, salsa, club style, R & B and current hits," said Blue Moon Ballroom owner, Fred Gommels.

For those looking to have a night they may or may not remember, there are plenty of options.

"We have Dazy Head Maze, one of Minnesota's most popular homegrown bands, Key Lime Special, a great up and comer. Over a thousand dollars in prizes with our midnight balloon drop," said Jason Davis, with the Clarion Inn.

"We have, music starting at 9 p.m. here, Bum City, a good classic rock band," said Lee Christianson, with Whistle Binkeys.

New Year's Eve is about having fun and going out with friends, but if you've saddled up to the bar and had a few beers, remember that you don't have to drive yourself home.

There are plenty of rides available like Yellow Cab and Med City Taxi.

"Typically we would have 10, possibly 12 out on a bar rush, but now we are ramping up, close to 20 or so. Actually, the staff in the office is doubling up as well," said Med City Taxi spokesperson, Sherry Roth.

Paradise Pete's owner summed up what he feels New Year's Eve is all about.

"It's about family and fun. It's about getting together and spending your last night with the old year and doing something exciting before you bring in the new year," said Barthel.

If music isn't your thing there are still tickets available at Goonie's Comedy Club in Rochester, for evening shows at 7:30p.m. and 10 p.m.

For those living along the I-90 corridor, there is live entertainment at Torge's Live Sports Pub and Grill in Austin.
