Heavy snow collapses a businesses roof in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (KTTC) -- Monday's heavy, wet snow is to blame for a roof collapsing. It happened some time during the night at a business in Spring Valley.

More than two-thirds of the machine shed roof collapsed at Marzolf Implement. The collapse left tractors, pick-ups and other equipment buried in a heap of snow. Luckily, no one was injured.

The roof collapsed over night under the weight of fresh snow.

"One of my employees who gets here early called me and said we had a few problems, and ugh, we had a few problems," said the implements' owner, Corey Marzolf.

Tuesday's sunny weather was a far cry from Monday's snowy conditions. The implements owner told us the snow came so fast and so hard,  the roof collapsed. Thick snow and insulation now cover everything within the shed.

"Farm tractor here. We've got some other fork lifts and equipment that are inside,' said Marzolf.

He told us he doesn't know when the shed will be repaired.

"Still assessing the damage, see what we have to do. If we have to totally rebuild the shop or just re-do the roof," explained Marzolf.

Fixes that can easily be made. The situation could have been very different, if people had been inside.

"No one was hurt, that's the real blessing here," said Marzolf.

Leaving a window of clear blue sky and opportunities for the future.
