Fil-Mor Express suddenly closes its doors

Updated:

CANNON FALLS, Minn. (KTTC) -- A Cannon Falls business has suddenly closed its doors and employees say more than 300 people are out of work.

Fil-Mor Express Incorporated closed its doors Friday.

The trucking company hauls products for big corporations, including Campbell's, Nestle and Coca-Cola.

Thursday afternoon, Fil-Mor employees received an electronic notification from the company's CEO, stating the business would be closing its doors Friday.

CEO, Richard Olson told employees,"Your current pay was deposited and a check was sent for your next two weeks and vacation pay. Benefits will end December, 17," said Olson.

Olson didn't say why the company was closing or why employees were notified on such short notice.

We spoke to truck drivers, who said the closure didn't come as a surprise.

One driver told us the maintenance on the trucks started to decline and parts weren't being ordered.

The closure will be felt on a large scale.

The company employs people in Canada and across the nation.

The NewsCenter made numerous attempts to contact Richard Olson for comment, but our calls were not returned.
