Freeborn County Adopts Social Host Ordinance

ALBERT LEA, Minn. (KTTC) -- Freeborn county is the latest to jump on board for enacting a social host ordinance.

Tuesday morning Freeborn County Commissioners unanimously voted to adopt the ordinance, which immediately went into effect. The Social Host Ordinance aims to discourage underage drinking, by making adults criminally responsible for supplying alcohol to minors, or hosting an event where illegal consumption is taking place.

As of November, 57 cities and 10 Minnesota counties had adopted the ruling. The city of Albert Lea implemented the ordinance 2-years ago.
