Thanksgiving at the Salvation Army

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Salvation Army in Rochester served up their annual Thanksgiving Day meal Thursday afternoon.

Organizers say they were expecting about 200 people to show up.

Guests and volunteers spent time visiting and even joined together for some singing.

The mission of the meal is about more than just volunteers serving a hot dinner.

Ben Kopecky, a volunteer, says, "It's about spending time with your family. And when people come here no one else to sit with, it's about sitting with them and having a meal with them and talking with them and being with them so they're not alone, and they have some comfort."

In addition to the turkey dinner, kids could have some fun getting their faces painted.

They chose from several designs, including a butterfly.
