Dallemand sets deadline for offer

ROCHESTER/MACON, GA (KTTC) -- We should be hearing soon if Rochester Public Schools (RPS) Superintendent Dr. Romaine Dallemand will accept the open superintendent position in Macon, Georgia.

Bibb County School District offered Dallemand the position on November 9.

RPS teachers received an email from Dallemand on November 10 announcing that he would make a decision on whether or not he would take the job within the next 24 to 48 hours.

We are now past that mark and are still waiting to hear the news.

According to RPS School Board Chair James Pittenger, Dallemand's contract states that he must give 90 days notice of his resignation.

However, he can then negotiate with the school board.

"If he requests to be released from his contract prior to the 90 days, we would make a decision on whether or not we release him from his contract before the 90 days are up," Pittenger said.

The school board met today to announce the final candidates for the appointed director seat number seven position which has been left unfilled since Cris Fischer resigned in September.

The candidates up for director seat number seven are: Dave Beal, Mary Ellen Landwehr, Jean Locke and Daniel O'Neil.

The school board originally wanted to choose the top three but decided on choosing four due to how close the votes were, ranging from five to eight for the top four whereas the rest received two or less.
