RPS awaits Dallemand's decision

ROCHESTER/MACON, GA (KTTC) -- The Rochester Public School district (RPS) may be looking for a new superintendent.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, Bibb County Board of Education held a meeting voting 5-3 in favor of making current RPS Superintendent Dr. Romain Dallemand their new superintendent

Even though Bibb County School district voted to offer the job to Dr. Dallemand, when we talked to him around 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening during the RPS school board meeting, he said he was still waiting for the official call offering him the job.

"I need to wait until I receive an official offer in Macon and then from there I can begin to start having the conversation with them," Dallemand said.

Bibb County School District recruited Dallemand along with 173 other candidates.

It then came down to him and one other finalist.

Dallemand was seen hugging a board member at the school board meeting around the time when the decision was announced but he said he was waiting for the official call before commenting on whether or not he will accept the offer.

"I guess I have mixed feelings about what happens. I think that Dr. Dallemand has done a good job for us here and I also think it could be something he could do a good job for the people in Bibb County if that's what happens," said James Pittenger, chair of the RPS board.

Dr. Dallemand said at the meeting that once he receives the call he will discuss the offer with his family before making a final decision.
