DFL celebrate two wins

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC0 -- Members of the DFL party celebrated wins for Incumbent Kim Norton and Incumbent Tina Liebling.

Norton will serve her third term as the Minnesota State Representative for District 29B.

Liebling will serve her fourth term as the Minnesota State Representative for District 30A.

Both Norton and Liebling attended the DFL viewing party at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Rochester on election night.

Norton defeated Republican Mike Rolih and said she is excited about the win but it comes after some losses for the DFL party.

"It is a bittersweet win. While I'm very pleased with the results some of my very favorite colleagues, both locally and across the state, will not be coming back to serve with me," Norton said.

Liebling beat out Republican Charlie O-Connell by 10%.

Voters first elected Liebling as state representative back in 2004, making her the first DFL representative from Rochester in over 30 years.

Liebling found out she was ahead by more than 1,200 votes around 10 p.m. on election night where she then gave her acceptance speech.

"I also want to congratulate my opponent for a very good well run race. Ours was the only one, if people are aware, there was absolutely no negative campaigning and I feel very proud of that," Liebling said.

Liebling stuck around to congratulate Kim Norton on her win and talk with Andy Welti who lost his seat with the House of Representatives.
