Sigrid Iversen (DFL)

I am originally from Rock Island, IL. At the age of the 8 my dad accepted a job as the athletic director at a new high school in Apple Valley, MN. Our family was excited to move to Minnesota, it was a state that had a great education system. In a house full of educators and students this was a pretty important quality.

After graduating from AVHS in 1986, I attended Luther College. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history with minors in political science and education. I secured a job at Eagan High School in 1990 and had the incredible privilege of opening a new high school. I received my Masters Degree in Library Media Science in 2000.

I met my husband at Luther College. He comes from Chicago but has enjoyed his relocation to Minnesota. He is a teacher at Lakeview Elementary and is the head baseball coach at Apple Valley High School. We have lived in Lakeville since 1993 and have four children, ages 14,12,9 and 7.

One of the great joys of my life is our four children. I was able to spend time at home with them after the birth of our last child. It was a blessing to have that time with my children. I also made some interesting discoveries about myself. I found that I have a real passion to leave this world better than when I arrived.

What is clear to me is that working together is a key ingredient to the success of any endeavour. I believe that is the case with our communities. I have created a philosophy around an important set of ideas.

"Supporting community collaboration between families, education and business."

I wholeheartedly believe in the idea of working together to make our community a better place. All elements must be an integral part of investing in our families, children and our livelihoods.

Regardless of your party or philosophical tendencies consider joining us.

Together we will make a difference!
