Obama Campaigns at U of M

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- President Barack Obama was speaking at the University of Minnesota on a campaign stop for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton.

The university says about 7,000 people packed the Field House on Saturday. Another 4,000 watched from the Sports Pavilion across the street.

Obama's visit made for a busy day at the university. Officials said the line to see the president was nearly a mile long. Two blocks from the Field House where he was to speak, the Gophers football team lost to Penn State.

Dayton is running against the Independence Party's Tom Horner and Republican Tom Emmer. Emmer appeared at a rally in Woodbury on Saturday with Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann.
