Obama, Dayton share a Minn. stage

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- President Barack Obama is bringing his stir-the-Democratic-faithful message to Minnesota on behalf of gubernatorial nominee Mark Dayton.

Obama is the biggest of the big-name campaign surrogates to involve himself in Minnesota's race for governor. He'll headline a rally at the University of Minnesota.

Dayton, a former senator, previously got visits by Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton.

Earlier in the week, Republican Mitt Romney was here for GOP nominee Tom Emmer.

A band of Republican governors will appear with Emmer on the campaign's final weekend.

The Minnesota governor's race is one of few where Democrats think they can claim a Republican-held seat.

Obama also has a private fundraiser planned in Minneapolis for the committee that aids Democratic congressional candidates.
