'Uffdah': Potential Obama foe sends snarky welcome

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- In a tongue-in-cheek "welcome to Minnesota," Gov. Tim Pawlenty is giving President Barack Obama a vocabulary lesson for his state while drawing contrasts between their policies.

The taped message, posted on YouTube, has Pawlenty uttering local expressions like "uffdah," "eh" and "yikes." The likely Republican presidential candidate couples the phrases with his reaction to Obama health, economy and budget approaches.

Obama was due in Minnesota on Saturday to campaign for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mark Dayton and to raise money for congressional Democrats. Pawlenty thanks Obama for coming "even if it is just for politics."

But like Obama, Pawlenty has spent much of the fall on the road as he stumps for his party's candidates. Pawlenty says he'll decide next spring whether to shoot for the White House. His second term as governor expires in January.
