Ann Lynch (DFL)

My name is Ann Lynch.  I am running for re-election in the Minnesota Senate and hope to continue representing the communities of Rochester, Chatfield, Dover, Elgin, Eyota, Plainview, and Stewartville.

I earned my B.A. in Economics from Hamline University.  I reside in Rochester with my husband and two children.  In 2002 I was honored to be elected to the Rochester School Board.  I carried on this position until 2006 when I decided to run for the Minnesota Senate.

I was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2006 and was enthusiastic about bringing the ideals of my communities to St. Paul.  I serve as the Vice-Chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Budget Committee; my other committee assignments include Capital Investment, Higher Education Budget and Policy, and Health, Housing and Family Security. I am also a member of the Legislative Commission on Pensions and Retirement.

In my first four years in the Minnesota Senate I have tried to work for everyone in my communities, realizing the communities I represent are diverse in terms of needs.  From the medical field to farming, from the business community to the various higher education institutions, I have managed to secure funding and improve the many founding institutions making up my district.

I have focused on improving the economy through jobs and investment in infrastructure.  I know the importance of reducing mandates on local units of government to help them work more efficiently while meeting the needs of their citizens.  I am proud of my record on seniors and veterans, having supported numerous laws that recognize their commitment and service to our communities.  Additionally, I strongly believe that it is the government's job to minimize the hurt to Minnesota families during these tough economic times.

I invite you to further explore my website to fully understand who I am as a candidate.  I hope to have your support this fall.
