Twins clean out lockers, Twins brass braces for big decisions on free agents

MINNEAPOLIS (KTTC-DT/AP) -- Minnesota Twins shortstop J.J. Hardy said it best -- "Five days ago we were going to win the World Series and now we're packing up our lockers."

After a historic season in which they opened a beautiful new ballpark and watched their payroll soar to what once was an unthinkable $100 million, the Twins again are headed home early thanks to the New York Yankees.

The Twins were swept by the Yankees in the AL division series for the second year in a row and have now lost 12 straight postseason games. No matter what they do these days, they can't seem to find an answer for guys in pinstripes out east.

A lot of difficult decisions have to be made this offseason. Carl Pavano, Jesse Crain and Jim Thome are three of eight free agents that may or may not be brought back.
