Waters recede in Zumbro Falls

ZUMBRO FALLS, Minn. (KTTC-DT) -- Debris is scattered across nearly every inch of this small community.

Close to 150 residents are still displaced from their homes Saturday evening.

Authorities are not yet saying when residents will be allowed back into the city.

However, a small handful of residents were allowed into the city limits late today, to retrieve any pets they had left behind during evacuations.

Alan VanDeWalker has been mayor for twenty years and says the destruction is devastating.

He says, "Sixty residents out of a hundred some homes are destroyed basically, so it's huge and percentage wise it's massive. It mean seem small to somebody who's from a town of 10,000 residents, but when you have 200 residents and 75 to 80 percent of them have lost their homes it's tough."

Governor Pawlenty is set to come and survey the damage Sunday around 12:30 PM.
