Sober Fest

KASSON, Minn. (KTTC)  Oktoberfest may have officially started on Saturday but for at least one group of local folks, they're not celebrating by drinking. Instead they're spending the day at Sober Fest.

The Dodge County Adult Drug Court and Wabasha County Substance Abuse Court hosted the 4th annual Sober Fest today. The event included current participants and alumni of the drug and substance abuse courts.

Eric Thompson helped to organize the event and said it's a great way to celebrate the accomplishments of recovering addicts'. "Activities like this are a good way for them to maintain their sobriety long term. It gives them a chance to participate in drug court and not just in a courtroom setting or a case management setting, but also sort of to showcase their talents out here in the community," said Thompson.

Saturday's event kicked off with a softball match and was followed by a hog roast, games and a raffle drawing. In total, event organizers said 35 drug court participants were at the celebration.
