Asia trade trip is likely Pawlenty's last as Gov.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty hits the road again this week, this time traveling to Asia as the leader of a state trade mission.

The Pawlenty contingent departs Thursday and will spend more than a week in China and Japan. It will be the Republican governor's second trade trip to China, with the first coming in 2005.

It's likely the last overseas trade mission by Pawlenty as governor. He leaves office in January.

The visit includes stops in major cities in both countries and meetings with business leaders and government officials.

China is among Minnesota's leading export markets, buying $1 billion in Minnesota goods per year.

Costs of the trip are covered by delegation members and a special trade fund.
