Obama making Labor Day speech in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- President Barack Obama's Labor Day speech in Milwaukee marks the third time in a little over two months that he's come to Wisconsin.

Obama was scheduled to talk at the Laborfest rally that brings together thousands of union members, their families and supporters.

Obama was last in Milwaukee two weeks ago to host a fundraiser for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett. He also toured a local business.

At the end of June he came to Racine where he hosted a town hall meeting on the economy.

Obama's frequent visits to Wisconsin stand out, especially given that he carried the state by 14 points just two years ago. But his popularity has slipped since then and Democrats find themselves in tough election contests from local races up to governor and U.S. Senate.
