WINONA, MINN. (KTTC) -- THE VOLUNTEER SPIRIT TOOK OVER WINONA TODAY. THE SAINT MARY'S CAMPUS MINISTRY DIRECTOR, CHRIS McCLEAD, SAID THAT A THIRD OF THE FRESHMAN CLASS WAS OUT TO DO GOOD DEEDS. THAT'S TEN-PERCENT OF THE SMU POPULATION.

CLEANING, PAINTING, HAULING, PLAYING BINGO AND TENDING TO ANIMALS WERE JUST SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES THESE YOUNGSTERS TOOK PART IN. WITH THE NEW UNIVERSITY LIFESTYLE AND NEW TOWN FOR SOME, MEETING NEW PEOPLE SERVED AS ENCOURAGEMENT TO COME OUT TO ONE OF THE TEN INVOLVED ORGANIZATIONS.
