A ride for dogs

Oronoco, MN (KTTC-DT) --

It's a ride for a cause, and this time it's for dogs. The Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota teamed up with Lets Ride 411 to raise money for rescued dogs.

Dave Soderberg said he wanted to do something after he saw story of a puppy mill rescue almost one year ago. The Small Dog Rescue organization took a large amount of those dogs from Nebraska and found home for them in Minnesota. The group is volunteer-based foster organization and needs financial support to continue to help the dogs. So Soderberg put together the roughly 120 mile motorcycle ride.

"The biggest thing I saw last year was on a story that you guys did on puppy mills the last year, and it just really touched me. And how some people can be cruel to dogs, and I just wanted to do something for them, to help raise some awareness and some money to help them out," says Soderberg.

"I know nothing about motorcycles, but I said, you know if he's willing to help us out, we'll do everything we can to make it happen, and we have. It's turning out really great," exclaims Becca Stiles-Nogosek with Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota.

While the strong wind gusts did hinder the event's attendance, a good 40 riders showed up with plenty of dogs. The riders ended the day at Grandpa Ed's, raising about $1,900 for the organization.
