One in twenty teens have hearing loss

Rochester, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Journal of American Medical Association compared teens in 2005 and 2006 to teens from 1988 to 1992. The study found that in a classroom of 30, there is at least one teen hard of hearing.

Hooked to iPhones and other ear hugging gadgets, the teen ear is receiving more noise in more closer proximity. There is nearly a 5 percent increase in hearing loss in young persons. And the big surprise is that parents of this teen generation hear better than the generation before them. Audiology Consultant and Ph. D, Cynthia Hogan, shared that "more people in my generation are working in quieter jobs, working in offices".

She suggested that snuggly fitting earplugs reduce outside sound and prevent from hiking noise level over the top.
