Vikings' Pat Williams comes in 18 pounds lighter

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- When Pat Williams reported to training camp with the Minnesota Vikings, he proudly proclaimed that he was 18 pounds lighter than he was last year.

Linebacker Ben Leber, defensive end Jared Allen and coach Brad Childress are just a few who wonder where the weight went.

Either way, Williams enters his 14th training camp as happy as ever despite the fact he's entering the final year of his contract without a new deal in sight and continues to pour money into his defense in the StarCaps case.

He says he's just enjoying being around a close group of teammates and chasing that elusive Super Bowl title.

Williams will turn 38 in October and remains one of the league's top run defenders.
