Serving on the School Board would be a continuation of my long-term commitment to public education. I hope to help heal the rift in the school board through compassion, listening and respecting individual differences. My website lists many positive, specific suggestions to support the growth of all students.
My community involvement included volunteering with Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity, where I served as President and house captain. I recently completed a term on the board of PossAbilities of Southern Minnesota. An active member of the Rochester Friends Meeting (Quakers), I served two terms as a lay minister and chaired several regional committees. I will bring problem-solving, collaboration and activism to the school board.
My wife and I have two adult daughters who attended the Rochester Public schools. I received a BS degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Minnesota and an MA in Occupational Therapy from New York University. My first professional job was at the Rochester State Hospital. I then worked in the Rochester Schools as an OT, retiring after twenty five years.
