MN Board on Judicial Standards
Appointed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty and serve as a public member on a 10 member board. The Board considers complaints filed in the state of Minnesota against members of the judiciary.
Rochester Downtown Alliance
The downtown alliance is a community initiative being supported by the city of Rochester, the Chamber, and downtown businesses. The goal is to revitalize downtown Rochester and promote newfound opportunities. I currently serve as the board chairperson.
Ethical Practices Board
Considers ethical practice complaints lodged against City of Rochester elected and appointed individuals as well as any person employed by the City of Rochester. Also provide education and serve as a resource for those inquiring about ethical practice issues.
Rochester Charter Commission
Appointed by Chief Judge of the 3rd Judicial District. Commission responsibilities include interpretation of charter language and proposed changes as determined in working with city administration, the city attorney's office, and the City Council.
Olmsted Planning Advisory Commission
The commission is responsible for assessing a variety of planning requests within Olmsted county. It is imperative to have an understanding of land usage, planning ordinances and desired goals of the communities within the county to achieve optimal results. The majority of requests are heard in the context of a public hearing. I currently serve as the commission chairperson.
Sheriff's Civil Service Commission
Serves as the body for assessing candidates for patrol and detention center deputies. Also serves as the hearing body for personnel issues that are not resolved through normal procedures.
AARP Tax-Aide Volunteer
Seasonal volunteer work preparing income taxes for low to moderate income individuals and families that might not otherwise be able to afford tax assistance.
Rochester Chamber of Commerce – Government Affairs Committee & Government Forum
Participate in discussions pertaining to a variety of issues related to local and state government.
Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS)
Participate in a number of support activities as determined and approved by city and county law enforcement and the Rochester Fire Department.
Samaritan Bethany Incorporated
Served for six years, two of which were as treasurer and one year as chair. Activities included oversight of operations, long range planning, and monitoring compliance with Minnesota Department of Health regulations related to the operation of long-term healthcare facilities.
Rochester Planning and Zoning Commission
The commission is responsible for assessing development requests for compliance with city ordinances as well as land uses within the boundaries of the City of Rochester. The majority of requests are heard in the context of a public hearing.
Rochester Zoning Board of Appeals
The Board is primarily responsible for hearing requests that have been denied by the Consolidated Planning Department due to non-adherence to city ordinances. Public hearings are conducted which allow for testimony and appropriate resolution.
Rochester Host Lions Club
Participate in a variety of community service work projects and participate in fundraising activities largely aimed at providing services for sight impaired individuals.
Rochester Citizens Police Academy
Completed an eight week course to better understand law enforcement both in general and as it pertains to the City of Rochester.
Rochester Citizens Fire Academy
Completed an eight week course to better understand fire department issues and operations as they pertain to the City of Rochester.
Served for twelve years, several as treasurer and two years as chair. Junior Achievement brings business and economic education to students in the classroom environment. Activities included classroom education, community relations, fund raising, supervision of office staff and long-range planning.
Redeemer Lutheran Church
Member for over forty years and have served in a number of capacities including Board of Trustees, treasurer and congregational president. During my term as president I also chaired or participated in the calling process for two pastors.
