Water fights

Byron, MN (KTTC-DT) --

Byron's Good Neighbor Days is going off with a splash. The city has been celebrating its annual event all week. This afternoon, the public got to watch as firefighters from Byron, Pine Island, and Mantorville got to duke it out, so to speak, in the first ever competitive water fight.

While water fights are nothing new to the Good Neighbor Days, this year brings a new competitive edge to the fun.

"It's a good time, but it's a competition. It's bragging rights. This year, the Byron Fire Department, for our water fights, we started a traveling trophy. So whoever wins gets to end up taking a big trophy home. And next year, the trophy ends up coming back, and we'll see who wins it next year," says Byron fire chief Jeff Thorpe.

For the kids, there were several opportunities to jump around and have fun in large, moon bounce inflatables. Byron's Good Neighbor Days will continue through tomorrow.
