Fire rips through southeast Rochester home

ROCHESTER (KTTC-DT) -- Officials say a house in southeast Rochester has more than $100,000 of damage as the result of an afternoon fire Saturday. No one was injured in the blaze. Robert Reinsvold who lives in the house says his fiance's daughter was making lunch when the fire broke out in the kitchen.

"I turned on a garden house and was standing there spraying it," says Reinsvold.

Reinsvold was at work around 12:30p.m. when he got a call from his fiance that his house was one fire.

"I'm still in shock," he notes.

By the time firefighters arrived on scene, there were already flames shooting out of the back on the house. Reinsvold grew up in the house on Sunnydale Lane in southeast Rochester.

"I've lived here my whole life, I bought the house from my parents," he adds.

It took firefighters close to two hours to get the fire completely under control, Reinsvold believe old insulation in the attic probably fed the flames.

"It's a hard thing to recover from, now they're going to be displaced for several months while they do the repairs," notes Timothy Bangert of the Rochester Fire Department.
