More improvements at Iowa camp hit by 2008 tornado

LITTLE SIOUX, Iowa (AP) -- More improvements have been made at a western Iowa Boy Scout camp destroyed nearly two years ago by a deadly tornado.

The Boy Scouts of America, Mid-America Council will hold an April 24 ceremony to celebrate completion of a storm shelter, RV park and other features at the Little Sioux Scout Ranch.

The camp was destroyed June 11, 2008, when the storm hit. Four Boy Scouts died, including three from Omaha, Neb. Nearly 50 others were injured.

Volunteers have rebuilt the camp, which was rededicated last year. The new buildings are able to withstand winds up to 250 mph.

Following the ceremony, the council will hold a luncheon for the EMS workers who aided Scouts after the tornado and will introduce the new ranger, Greg "Doc" Schaefer.
