COPY-Inmate escapes, captured hours later

FOREST CITY, IA (KTTC DT) -- An inmate at the Winnebago County Jail escaped for a number of hours before north Iowa authorities captured him.

According to Chief Deputy Mark Peterson, on February 12, 2010, an inmate escaped. The inmate had help from an associate not being held at the jail.

The inmate disabled security, then exited the building and received a ride from his associate. The inmate was being held at the jail for a non-violent crime.

Due to cooperation with law enforcement agencies around north Iowa, the inmate was apprehended in Mason City, Iowa. From the time of the escape, the inmate was captured within two hours.

Jessica Fredrickson of Mason City is being charged for allegedly assisting an inmate in custody to escape. David Snider of Manly is being charged for escaping from custody.

The investigation is on-going.
