COPY-No travel advised in parts of southern Minnesota

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising no travel after dark in south-central and southwestern Minnesota, including the western half of the Interstate 90 corridor.

MnDOT spokeswoman Rebecca Arndt says the agency issued the advisory starting Sunday evening because of blowing snow that's causing poor visibility. She says the gusts were hitting 30 to 40 mph and were forecast to go up by another 10 mph Sunday night.

She says MnDOT plows have been out since noon in south-central and southwestern Minnesota, but they're having trouble keeping up, and they're starting to see some drifting.
