Winds picking up

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Light snow will keep falling across most of the area today as the storm system producing that snow slowly pulls away to the southeast.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is advising no unnecessary travel and says driving conditions are difficult.

As of 6 a.m., visibility is 3/4 mile or better, but will reduce Tuesday morning as winds change from NE to NW and could exceed 20 miles per hour and times.  103 Mn/DOT plows are out working to clear roads.

According to Meteorologist Ted Schmidt, snow totals have been in the 5 to 9 inch range so far and another inch or two will likely fall today through the early afternoon before things begin to taper off.

Skies will clear late tonight and tomorrow morning behind this storm system allowing us to enjoy some cool sunshine for our Wednesday and Thursday.
