ND to add Mega Millions lottery game Sunday

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota lottery outlets will begin selling tickets to the Mega Millions lottery game on Sunday.

State Lottery Director Randy Miller says North Dakota is offering the game to keep from losing customers to Minnesota. Minnesota is starting Mega Millions ticket sales on Sunday.

At the start of the year, Powerball was played in 31 states, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. Mega Millions was played in 12 states, including California, Texas and New York.

Now, North Dakota is joining a group of states that will sell tickets to both games.

Powerball drawings are on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The current jackpot is $90 million. Mega Millions has its drawings on Tuesdays and Fridays. Its jackpot is now $144 million.
