I-90 reopens

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) --  I-90 from Albert Lea to the South Dakota border re-opened at 8:30 Tuesday morning.  

South-bound I-35 from Albert Lea to the Iowa border opened at 9:30 a.m.

Blizzard conditions closed down the two Interstate highways in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Transportation closed southbound I-35 from Albert Lea to the Iowa border due to low visibility around 4 p.m. Monday. In Iowa, I-35 was closed from the Minnesota border to Ames.

I-90 was closed from Albert Lea to the South Dakota border since approximately
3 p.m. 

When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
