St. Paul college locked down after gun report

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- St. Paul police say it could take several hours to comb through a building under lockdown after a student reported seeing a man with a gun.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Schnell says investigators are sweeping the main building at St. Paul Technical College and escorting classrooms of students outside one by one.

He says police are investigating the report by questioning others who were in the building at the time and by checking surveillance video.

Police responded a little after 11 a.m. Wednesday after the student reported seeing a man with a gun near an elevator.

Schnell says after evacuating all the students and staff, police will do another sweep to make sure no one is hiding in the building.
