ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities say a North St. Paul police officer killed while responding to a domestic disturbance was shot with his own weapon.

Officer Richard Crittenden was responding Monday to a call from a woman who feared her estranged husband would come to her apartment.

Crittenden and Maplewood Officer Julie Olson entered the apartment and were allegedly attacked by the husband, 34-year-old Devin Dockery.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Dockery struggled with the officers and pulled Crittenden's gun from its holster. He and Olson exchanged fire.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner says Crittenden died of a gunshot to the head. Dockery died of gunshot wounds. Olson was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the arm.
