Exercise boot camp for women

Rochester, MN (KTTC-DT) --

Exercise boot camps are becoming popular among women across the country. You may have seen them on reality tv shows or heard about them through friends. This summer, Rochester has its own boot camp for women.

Three days a week, more than 20 ladies are already on the field at the crack of dawn running, jumping, and lunging to what some say is the best workout they've ever had.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 6 a.m., you'll find ladies sweating it out on the Winston Churchill Elementary school yard. It's a boot camp designed for women to lose weight or stay fit.

"It's probably one of the most popular fitness classes these days, and people gets results. These women were losing anywhere between 5, I had one women lose about 18 pounds last month," exclaims Shawn Eichorn, the owner of Rochester Boot Camp for Women.

This is no easy workout. Eichorn, uses his personal training experience to create a high-intensity workout.

"High-intensity workouts, you burn more calories compared to doing like one long, boring walk on a treadmill, okay. So we're giving the ladies a lot of variety with different exercises, keeping their heart rate up high the entire time. And you burn more fat when you're doing that as well."

Eichorn is so certain that the women will lose their target weight that he will give a 100 percent refund if anyone doesn't reach their goal, proof that any woman can make it at the camp. He says one of the reasons why womens' boot camps are so successful is that women help each other out.

"You know, there's always someone who's pushing through their tiredness," explains boot camp member Erika Olson. "And when you see that and people encouraging each other, it's like okay, I can keep going even though I'm ready to die and quit."

Olson also says it's nice not having men around because women tend to become intimidated.

"I'd say it's the best money I've spent in a really long time."

Eichorn says his boot camp classes have been so successful that for the September round, he's going to start a night course as well. If you'd like to know more about the boot camp, you can go to our website http://www.kttc.com/links, where we have a link to their site.
