Investigators seek cause of Iowa plane crash

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Federal investigators are in northwest Iowa looking for what caused a small plane to crash near Sheldon, killing all three people on board.

Authorities with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were meeting with O'Brien County officials on Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.

The single-engine Piper 28 went down about 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

FAA spokesman Tony Molinaro says no flight plan was filed so the plane's destination was unclear.

The names of those killed in the crash had not been released Wednesday morning.

Molinaro says the plane, built in 1968, is owned by Jerome Goodger of Milton, Wis.

A person answering the telephone Tuesday at a number listed for Goodger said he was home but not available.
