No Minn. budget deal after Pawlenty, Dems meet

Posted:

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Top Democrats and Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty remain $2.7 billion apart with just hours left in the legislative session.

They met privately for a little more than an hour.

Afterward, DFL House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher said they remain divided on how to close the gap.

She says they will try to narrow the differences before the midnight deadline.

GOP House Minority Leader Marty Seifert says an agreement is still possible but time is running out.
