Minnesota, Iowa H1N1 cases continue to grow

ST. PAUL/DES MOINES (FOX 47) -- The number of confirmed H1N1 flu cases in Minnesota has jumped from two to 21.

The cases were confirmed Friday, after health officials started testing the state's probable cases here, rather than sending them to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The three newest cases are in the Twin Cities area. Health officials expect to still see more cases in communities across the state.

It's a similar story in Iowa. The Department of Health says there are now 43 confirmed H1N1 cases there.

The increase isn't an indication that more people are getting sick, but more a turnover from probable to confirmed cases.

38 cases are in Marshall County. Polk County has two, with one each in Hardin, Story, and Des Moines counties.
