Minnesota's stream trout season opens statewide Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's stream trout season is now open statewide.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says trout anglers likely will find good fishing conditions this weekend.

Mark Ebbers is the DNR's trout and salmon program consultant. He says trout populations are generally in good shape in the southeast streams.

He says in many of those streams the adult trout populations are at the same level as they were before the floods of 2007.

Anglers fishing for stream trout must have a trout stamp in addition to a regular fishing or combination license. Licenses and trout stamps purchased last year expire at midnight April 30.

Trout stamps cost $10. The money goes to benefit trout habitat.
