Kevin Williams and Pat WilliamsMINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The agents for Minnesota Vikings players Kevin Williams and Pat Williams say negative publicity from their violation of the NFL's anti-doping policy has unfairly hurt them.
Pat Williams' agent, Angelo Wright, testified Thursday in Minneapolis that he and his client decided to "shut down" his business and community service ventures after news of the positive tests for a banned diuretic was leaked in October 2008.
Wright says Williams could have earned $450,000 over three years with an agreement he had in place with a California energy drink company.
The diuretic the players took is on a banned list because it includes an ingredient that can mask steroid use, but neither player is accused of taking steroids.
The Williamses are suing the NFL, saying it broke state labor laws in applying its anti-doping policy.
