WINONA COUNTY, Minn. (KTTC-DT) -- A Wisconsin man was arrested for first degree DWI on the water on Saturday and jailed in Winona over the weekend.
Winona County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Ron Ganrude tells the KTTC NewsCenter that 54-year-old Curtis Harnish of Galesville was arrested at 4 p.m. on Saturday after his boat hit a wing dam near Cotter Island on the Mississippi River.
The chief deputy says Harnish lost control of his 14-foot fishing boat and ran into a pontoon boat that was docked... but he could have run into a group of swimmers nearby.
Ganrude says Harnish has six previous DWI convictions... three in Wisconsin and three more in Illinois.
Harnish blew a 0.18 on a breathalyzer test at the scene... more than twice the legal limit for operating a boat.
