  • Tech 4 Richard Josselyn served from October 7, 1944 - August 9, 1946 with the 94th Infantry Division in Europe during WWII and was part of the Ruhr Pocket Offensive.

  • CPL Jim Van De Walker entered the US Army on September 19, 1958 and completed both Basic and Advanced Training at Fort Hood,Texas.
  • SPC 5 Bobby Sommerfield completed his Basic and Advanced training as an expert marksman with the M-16 auto rifle , M-14 rifle and M-60 Caliber Machine gun.
  • Frank Sommerfield joined the Navy in May of 1966 and completed Boot Camp in San Diego.
  • SPC 4 Allen Sommerfield completed MP (Military Police) Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia and was assigned to the 66th MP Company, 18th Brigade in "Qui Nhon" Vietnam for 14 months and 9 days.

  • MMCM(SS) RET Denny proudly served in the Navy for 21 years. He was stationed out of Groton/New London, Connecticut and Holy Loch, Scotland aboard submarines ranging from diesel boats to fast attacks.
  • PFC Lyle Rehling entered the Army at age 38 and was assigned to the Induction Station, Company 7 at Fort Snelling. 
  • During the time of World War II, Lorrin "Tut" Rehling, enlisted in the US Army and was a member of Company C., 315th Combat Engineers Battalion.
  • PFC Lloyd H. Rehling was 40 yrs old when called to duty.  He was assigned to 162 Quartermaster Service, G.R. (Aviation) at Pendelton Field, Oregon.
  • Lt. Louia B. Rehling served 16 years in the US Army and Air Force.  During WWII he served with the 106th Infantry Division, the "Golden Lions". 
  • PFC Caryl Rehling entered the service for his country October 2, 1940. He was a member of Company K, 3rd Infantry Division going overseas in December 1942. 
  • CW2 Frank Irwin was promoted from Private to Chief Warrant Officer in Feb. 1969.

  • Lance Corporal Gene Hofius served as a Radioman with the 1st Marine Air Wing based at Camp El Toro, California. 

  • Tec 5 Harry Sommerfield served with the US Army Aircraft Artillery, Battery C436, seeing action in Algeria, Morroco, Tunisia, Sicily, Rome, Italy, Central Europe, Southern France and the Rhineland.
  • Ralph McDonough served with the 4th Bombardment Squadron, 34th Group H, 8th Army Air Force in WWII.
  • AM3 John C. Van De Walker grew up in New Haven Township and in Pine Island.  He graduated from Pine Island High School. He was a member of Mazeppa American Legion Post #588, for more than 50 years, and a past Commander.
  • Leon Mike Swendsen 569th Field Artillery-1st Army Division WWII 1944-1946 Rank T4 Sergeant Born 11/11/14 97th Birthday 11/11/11 My dad, Leon, was very proud to serve our country over 60 years
