* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 14.7 feet by
Thursday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...The basements of businesses along the river
begin to flood.
* Impact...At 12.5 feet...River Street in downtown Durand begins to
flood.

* from Thursday evening until further notice...Or until the warning
is cancelled.
* At 8:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 11.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage Thursday evening and rise to
near 13.2 feet this weekend.
* Impact...At 13.0 feet...The railroad underpass on Highway 60 may be
flooded. Flooding is also possible along Lawrence Boulevard and
Main Street East. Some businesses near the river may be flooded.

The National Weather Service in Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued
a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of south central Minnesota,
including the following areas, Faribault and Martin.

* Through Thursday morning

* Ongoing rain will continue through much of the night into
Thursday. Periods of heavy rainfall with isolated thunderstorms
could bring upwards of 4-5 inches of rainfall by Thursday
morning across the watch area.

* This long duration rainfall event will bring an increased risk
for river and stream flooding, especially in areas that have
recently received heavy rainfall this week. Flash flooding
will be possible, especially in thunderstorms, where rainfall
rates will be much higher.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action

Iowa, Emmet, Palo Alto, and Pocahontas. In west central Iowa,
Sac.

* Through Thursday morning

* A widespread total swath of 1.5 to 3 inches of rainfall with
higher total amounts over 4 inches is anticipated through
tonight. This heavy rain will fall on top of an already
saturated ground from recent rains earlier this week.

* Be prepared for water over roads due to rapid rises on creeks
and streams or even water flowing from farm fields. If a road
is closed or if water is running over it, please find an
alternate route. Turn Around Don't Drown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
